Safe Environment Training Is Required for ALL School Parents & Volunteers

By December 20, 2017August 31st, 2023No Comments

All school parents and volunteers (parents, grandparents, friends, or anyone helping at any event or activity involved with the school) are required to complete the diocese’s online Safe Environment Training.   To be in compliance with the Diocese’s Safe Environment Program (SEP), all school employees and volunteers who have contact with children must complete the diocese’s online training program before starting any activities.  This program’s certification is valid for five (5) years.  Those who have not completed training in five or more years need to login to renew or complete the program.

In the spring of 2018, the Diocese of Lubbock announced our affiliation with VIRTUS; an internationally known and well respected best practices platform for Safe Environment training.  This training is available online in Spanish and English.  It is a comprehensive and multi-dimensional training that specializes in assisting churches and religious organizations in creating safe environments for children. Its mainstay course, Protecting God’s Children assists the church in its efforts to recognize and stop sexual abuse.

To register for VIRTUS and access the online training course please go to www.catholiclubbock.org and click on the Safe Environment tab.  The VIRTUS link will be located at the bottom of the page.  When you finish the online course, please print the certificate of completion and bring to the school office so we can add you as being certified to our records.  If you have any questions, please contact Belinda Aguirre at 806.792.3943 Ext. 211.
